Media Advisory - The Actuarial Standards Oversight Council Holds its Sixth Annual Public Meeting Français
OTTAWA, Dec. 10, 2012 /CNW/ - Emilian Groch, Chair of the Actuarial Standards Oversight Council (ASOC), is pleased to invite the media to attend the ASOC's sixth annual public meeting.
In 2006, the Canadian Institute of Actuaries established the Actuarial Standards Board (ASB) as an independent body with the authority and responsibility for developing, establishing and maintaining actuarial standards of practice. The ASOC was formed to serve the public interest by providing oversight and input to the activities of the ASB. It comprises seasoned professionals and business people with experience in the financial sector, and one of their most important duties is to appoint the members of the ASB.
At the meeting, ASOC Chair Emilian Groch and Vice-chair Jacques Valotaire will describe the council's role and recent activities, and Dave Pelletier, ASB Chair, will outline the Board's activities.
In addition, there will be an opportunity for you to ask questions about the ASOC, the ASB, the actuarial standard-setting process and related issues.
