Media advisory - The Canadian Cancer Society - Quebec Division to appear before the parliamentary committee during consultations on An Act respecting end-of-life care Français
MONTREAL, Sept. 30, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - The Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) - Quebec Division will on Tuesday, October 1, present its report on Bill 52 regarding end-of-life care before the Health and Social Services Committee.
Those appearing will be Suzanne Dubois, Executive Director, CCS - Quebec Division, Mélanie Champagne, Director, Public Issues, and Marie-Anne Laramée, Health Policy Analyst.
This delegation will make the CCS's reactions on Bill 52 respecting end-of-life care known to legislators and convey its concerns about access to palliative care.
The CCS will recommend in particular:
- The standardization and improvement of all palliative care programs until they can be offered to all Quebecers who need them.
- The introduction of palliative care earlier during cancer treatment.
- More training for healthcare teams and support for caregivers, particularly in the context of growing palliative home care.
Ms. Champagne will be available all day on Tuesday for interviews (in the corridor near the Salle du Conseil législatif). A copy of CCS's report will be provided upon request.
