Media advisory - The Canadian Cancer Society and the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec join forces to offer nurses palliative care training

• Around eight in ten people receiving palliative care have cancer and only 50% of cancer-related pain is adequately managed.
• The CCS and OIIQ think that it's important to develop the palliative care skills of healthcare professionals to ensure availability.
• More than 20,000 Quebecers died of cancer last year.
• We expect an increase in the number of cancer cases by at least 35% in Quebec by 2030.

WHAT:	Announcement of a unique online continuing medical training program on palliative care. This will be offered to 73,000 OIIQ members across Quebec. This project is the result of a common understanding between the CCS and OIIQ to ensure access to quality palliative care for Quebecers.
