OTTAWA, Feb. 2, 2012 /CNW/ - The Canadian Real Estate Association will be hosting a technical briefing for media with regards to the forthcoming MLS® Home Price Index (MLS® HPI) on Monday, February 6, 2012 at 12 noon Eastern Time.
The Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA), Fraser Valley Real Estate Board (FVREB), Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver (REBGV), Calgary Real Estate Board (CREB), Toronto Real Estate Board (TREB), and the Greater Montreal Real Estate Board (GMREB) have developed a new system to measure home price trends and home price inflation/deflation: the MLS® Home Price Index (MLS® HPI). The MLS® HPI is calculated using a sophisticated statistical model that takes into account a home's quantitative (e.g., the number of rooms it has) and qualitative (e.g., whether it has a finished basement) features.
Conference will begin with a short presentation on the MLS® HPI, provide details on methodology and conclude with a Questions and Answers session.
