Media Advisory - The Chair and Board of the WSIB to hold Day of Mourning ceremony on April 28th
TORONTO, April 24, 2015 /CNW/ - The Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) will commemorate the National Day of Mourning at a public ceremony on Tuesday, April 28th, 2015.
The ceremony is being held to remember and honour those workers who have died, been injured or suffered illness in the workplace, and to renew our commitment to the promotion of healthy and safe workplaces and the prevention of future fatalities.
WHEN: Tuesday, April 28th, 2015 – 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
WHERE: Simcoe Park, located on the west side of the WSIB office at 200 Front St. W., Toronto
WHO: Threads of Life families, labour and employers are expected to attend the ceremony
Speakers will include:
- Elizabeth Witmer, WSIB Chair
- Honourable Kevin Flynn, Minister of Labour
The family of Luke Penny who was killed at work in 2010 will be laying a wreath in his honour. St. Michael's Choir School will participate in the ceremony.
