VANCOUVER, May 15, 2018 /CNW/ - The Honourable Marc Garneau, Minister of Transport will announce new measures and partnerships for safer maritime navigation and emergency response through the Oceans Protection Plan.

****Please note: prior to announcement, there will be an exclusive opportunity for two media outlets to participate in a port state control inspection on a deep sea vessel with Minister Garneau and Transport Canada marine safety inspectors. The tour will start at 1:45pm
This will be an opportunity to learn how Canada inspects foreign ships entering local waters to ensure compliance with international marine safety regulations.
