Media advisory - The return of spring and the Canadian Cancer Society's daffodils - The daffodil is not only the symbol of cancer, but also of courage and life

MONTREAL, March 20, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - From March 21 to 24, 2013, the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) is inviting Quebecers to support people living with cancer. In Quebec, more than 2 million fresh flowers will be sold by 20,000 volunteers in 1,800 points of sales at shopping centres, banks, grocery stores, office buildings, and pharmacies.

• Daffodil Month spokesperson, the actress Marie Turgeon, as well as a CCS squad who will ask commuters to support the charity and take part in Daffodil Month by buying a bouquet of fresh daffodils or wearing a daffodil pin.
• The public will also be invited to participate in a collective work by decorating the CCS's "tower of hope" with flowers and leaving a note of encouragement there to the person they will be fighting for in April.

Every 11 minutes, a Quebecer is diagnosed with cancer. The money collected during Daffodil Month makes a real difference: today, more than 60% of Canadians who have been diagnosed with cancer survive. In the 1940s, the survival rate was only around 25%.
