MEDIA ADVISORY - The School of Public Policy Calls for Independent Fiscal Council - More Transparency in Government Spending Needed
CALGARY, May 26, 2015 /CNW/ - Politicians historically have made a bad habit out of justifying use of debt- particularly when it comes to infrastructure. Tomorrow, on May 27th, The School of Public Policy will release an eye-opening report by Dr. Bev Dahlby & Michael Smart that calls for transparency within provincial budgets and warns increased spending today equals higher taxes tomorrow. Financing a bridge or a school with debt, is not the answer - taxes and tolls is the viable solution. The report will cut through the politics, offer solutions and real opportunity for the new NDP government to take a more transparent and responsible approach to budgeting.
