About The Great Trail Cross-Canada Connection Celebration
Twenty-five years ago, a small group of visionaries had an audacious dream: to connect the country and its people with a multi-use recreational trail. Now, The Great Trail, stretching almost 24 000 kilometres, will finally be connected and become the longest trail system in the world. To celebrate, Trans Canada Trail will hold nearly 200 celebratory events across Canada on August 26, 2017, including a national event at Major's Hill Park in Ottawa. These events will serve to highlight the generosity and devotion of volunteers, partners and donors in helping to make the Trail a reality. Media wishing to attend the event must confirm their attendance with Trans Canada Trail.
