OTTAWA, Dec. 13, 2016 /CNW/ - Their Excellencies the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, and Mrs. Sharon Johnston will be in Kingston on Wednesday, December 14, 2016, to discuss mental health issues and how to break down the stigma associated with mental illness.
Her Excellency will deliver a keynote address at the Canadian Club of Kingston on the role of the spouse of the Governor General of Canada and more specifically on the issue of mental health. Later that day, Their Excellencies will visit Providence Care Mental Health Services.

Keynote Address at the Canadian Club of Kingston by Her Excellency Sharon Johnston
At a luncheon hosted by the Canadian Club of Kingston, Mrs. Johnston will speak about her role as the Governor General's spouse and about mental health, an issue that has come to define her time in office. Afterwards, Mrs. Johnston will engage in a question-and-answer session with the audience.

Visit to Providence Care Mental Health Services
Their Excellencies will visit Providence Care Mental Health Services where they will meet with anti-stigma leaders and mental health researchers to learn about advances in recovery for individuals with long-term mental illness. Their Excellencies will also have an opportunity to meet with patients working at VOCEC, a café in the hospital that employs people living with mental illness.
At 3:30 p.m., Their Excellencies will have an opportunity to preview the new facility scheduled to open in April 2017. This facility will be the first in North America to fully integrate long-term mental health and physical rehabilitation/complex care.
