OTTAWA, Feb. 4, 2016 /CNW/ - Their Excellencies the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, and Mrs. Sharon Johnston will visit Toronto on Friday, February 5, 2016. While in Toronto, the Governor General will thank veterans for their service to our country and deliver a keynote address at the 27th annual Loran Scholars Foundation dinner. Her Excellency will visit a courier service that employs people with disabilities and then tour an arts-based occupational therapy facility.

2 p.m.
Visit to Sunnybrook Veterans Centre
The Governor General, as commander-in-chief of Canada, will tour the Sunnybrook Veterans Centre, including the Dorothy Macham Home, which is a facility that provides innovative care to meet the special needs of veterans suffering from challenging behaviours due to dementia. Afterwards, His Excellency will deliver remarks and meet with veterans to recognize their years of service.
The Sunnybrook Veterans Centre opened as a war veterans' hospital in 1948, and is the largest veterans' care facility in Canada. Visit Good Foot Delivery by Her Excellency Sharon Johnston
Mrs. Johnston will visit Good Foot Delivery, a courier service that offers employment to people with developmental disabilities. She will be introduced to the service, meet with some of its employees and then join one of the couriers on a delivery.
Good Foot Delivery opened in 2010, employs 30 people and has hundreds of client companies in Toronto. They will soon be expanding their service to include shipping to other cities. For more information, visit www.goodfootdelivery.com.

Visit to Creative Works Studio by Her Excellency Sharon Johnston
Mrs. Johnston will visit St. Michael's Hospital's Creative Works Studio (CWS) to learn about its different programs and participate in an art therapy session with some of its members.

The Governor General will deliver the keynote address at the Loran Scholars Foundation's 27th annual dinner. Prior to the dinner, His Excellency will meet with a group of scholars for an informal discussion.
