Upon arrival, the Governor General will participate in the presentation and consecration of the Royal Canadian Air Force's new colours. Later in the afternoon, Their Excellencies will meet with His Worship John Tory, Mayor of Toronto.
Below is Their Excellencies' detailed itinerary.
12:30 p.m.
Presentation and Consecration of the Royal Canadian Air Force's New Colours
The Governor General will formally present the new colours to Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) members. He will also deliver remarks saluting the achievements of the RCAF over the years and the critical role the RCAF serves for Canada today.
Historically, colours marked and provided a rallying point for army regiments in the line of battle. Today, they are no longer carried in action but they continue to be symbols of pride, honour and devotion to Sovereign and to country. Colours are presented by the Sovereign or by an individual nominated to act on the Sovereign's behalf. For more information, visit www.rcaf-arc.forces.gc.ca.
