Media Advisory - Thunder Bay Mayor Keith Hobbs to Join Picket Line in Support of ONA Striking CCAC Health Professionals
THUNDER BAY, ON, Feb. 12, 2015 /CNW/ - Thunder Bay Mayor Keith Hobbs will be showing his support for the striking CCAC workers, members of the Ontario Nurses' Association (ONA), joining their picket line on Friday, February 13 at 9 a.m. Picketers will be on the line from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the North West Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) office at 961 Alloy Drive, Thunder Bay.
An additional picket line is being held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Constituency Office of MPP Michael Gravelle (Thunder Bay-Superior North), 176 Algoma Street South, Thunder Bay. Gravelle will be talking with a group of ONA members at 11 a.m. in his office.
Linda Silas, President of the Canadian Federation of Nursing Unions (CFNU), an umbrella organization of nursing unions from across Canada, of which ONA is an affiliate, will be on the picket line being held at Gravelle's office.
ONA is the union representing 60,000 nurse practitioners, registered nurses and allied health professionals, as well as more than 14,000 nursing student affiliates providing care in hospitals, long-term care facilities, public health, the community, clinics and industry.
