Media Advisory - Time for regional team effort on GTA investment and jobs: Report to be released calling for more regional action
TORONTO, Feb. 6, 2014 /CNW/ - Co-chairs of the Greater Toronto Marketing Alliance (GTMA), Mayor Dave Ryan, City of Pickering, and John Tory, Chair, CivicAction, call for business and all levels of government to embark on a properly funded regional team effort to pursue and attract potential investment and jobs to the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
On February 10, the co-chairs will release the first-ever report on the state of foreign direct investment attraction and cooperation in the GTA, "Roadmap to Revitalization." The report was commissioned by the GTMA board. It was developed in conjunction with PwC, with the support of an advisory group of thought leaders from business, government and academia, and under the auspices of CivicAction.
The "Roadmap to Revitalization" report examines why foreign direct investment is important for the GTA's economy and how we compare to regions like Greater London (U.K.) and the Greater Montreal Area. The report finds the GTA is significantly underperforming relative to its potential, suggests practical solutions, and provides a blueprint for action, including increased financial commitment from business and all levels of government.
