Media Advisory - TO2015 to Announce Route, Open Torchbearer Contest for TORONTO 2015 Pan Am Torch Relay Français
Special event starts Wednesday, October 1 at Toronto Eaton Centre
TORONTO, Oct. 1, 2014 /CNW/ - On Wednesday, October 1, the route for the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am Torch Relay will be revealed at one of Canada's busiest locations — the Toronto Eaton Centre — with the help of special guests Canadian astronaut Colonel Chris Hadfield and Olympic medallists Simon Whitfield and Catriona Le May Doan.
Whitfield and Le May Doan shared the honour of being the first torchbearers to run with the Olympic Flame as part of the relay for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
Along with the route, the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games Organizing Committee (TO2015) will also officially open the online torchbearer contest to the public across Canada, with mall visitors able to sign up immediately on-site.
The torch relay information booth and activities, including visits by PACHI the porcupine and Canadian athletes, will start at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 1 and remain open through Sunday, October 5 during mall hours.
