Media Advisory - TODAY: Unifor to announce next step in Toyota unionization drive
KITCHENER, ON, April 3, 2014 /CNW/ - The next step in the effort by Toyota team members to gain a voice in their workplace through unionization will be announced at a press conference this afternoon in Kitchener.
"The team members at Toyota have an incredible opportunity to build a brighter future for themselves, for Toyota and their communities," said Unifor National President Jerry Dias, who will be at the 5pm press conference.
Unifor has received Toyota's list of team members its three plants in Cambridge and Woodstock, Ontario, and is reviewing the names. The results of that process will be announced at today's media conference, which will include comments from Dias and Toyota team members involved in the organizing drive.

Unifor filed its application to form a bargaining unit at Toyota on March 31 following a Toyota team member led campaign to join the union.
Unifor is Canada's largest union in the private sector, representing more than 305,000 workers, including more than 39,000 in the auto industry. Unifor was founded Labour Day weekend 2013 when the Canadian Auto Workers and the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers union merged.
