TO2015 encourages businesses to advance accessibility
TORONTO, May 5, 2015 /CNW/ - With the largest ever Parapan Am Games being hosted in Ontario this summer, the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games Organizing Committee (TO2015) is encouraging businesses across the region to use the Games as a catalyst to advance accessibility.
The Ontario government estimates that one in seven people in the province has a disability, and that over the next 20 years that number will rise as the population ages. With more than 1,600 para-athletes showcasing their incredible abilities in 15 sports this summer, there is no better time to explore Ontario's readiness in embracing accessibility.
To help businesses prepare to welcome and serve people of all abilities this summer, TO2015 is hosting an Are You Ready? Conference.
The event will host local businesses, big and small, interested in learning how improved accessibility can positively impact their bottom line. The conference will feature a number of keynote speakers, including Abdi Dini, member of Canada's 2012 gold-medal-winning wheelchair basketball team and TORONTO 2015 hopeful, as well as Brad Duguid, Minister of Economic Development, Employment and Infrastructure.
