Pan Am flame to visit CFB Trenton; daytime celebration at King Edward Arena in Brighton and evening celebration at the Bloor Viaduct in Toronto
TORONTO, July 1, 2015 /CNW/ - On Saturday, July 4, Day 35 of the Pan Am Games Torch Relay, presented by President's Choice® and OLG, the Pan Am flame will visit Trenton, Brighton, Colborne, Cobourg and Toronto.
The relay day will start at Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Trenton with a community celebration that will send off the first torchbearer of Day 35. The Pan Am flame will then travel at high speed in a race car at the Brighton Speedway before making its way to King Edward Arena for a community celebration. The flame will then take a ride on an antique fire truck before continuing down Highway 401 and into Toronto for the evening celebration at the Bloor Viaduct.
Saturday, July 4, 2015 (Relay Day 35: Trenton to Toronto, ON)
CFB Trenton – 11:30 a.m. (ET) (220 RCAF Road, Trenton)
Start of day celebration:
- Gunther Mally, Chuck Meslage, Ryan Kerr and Annel Power will carry the Pan Am flame on the base.
Brighton Speedway – 1 p.m. (ET) (775 County Road 64, Brighton)
Photo opportunity:
- Mark Rinaldi, from the Brighton Speedway, will carry the Pan Am flame while travelling in a race car.
King Edward Arena – 1:45 p.m. (ET) (75 Elizabeth Street, Brighton)
Day celebration:
- Jeff Lay, community torchbearer and Olympic silver medallist in rowing, will depart the celebration at 2:45 p.m. carrying the Pan Am flame.
Bloor Viaduct – (Bloor Street East between Parliament Street and Bayview Avenue, Toronto)
Evening celebration:
- CityTV's Tracy Moore will arrive carrying the Pan Am flame at 7 p.m. and will light the community cauldron.
The Pan Am Games Torch Relay is a 41-day journey that will share the Pan Am spirit in more than 130 communities. The torch relay is one of the most exciting events as it sets the stage leading up to the Games. There will be more than 3,000 torchbearers and 180 community celebrations taking place.

The TORONTO 2015 Pan Am Games Torch Relay, presented by President's Choice® and OLG, is supported by community partner CIBC, signature supporters Star Media Group and Metroland Media, Ontario Trillium Foundation and Porter Airlines, and funding parties the Government of Canada and the Province of Ontario. The torch relay will invite Canadians to celebrate and share the Pan Am spirit throughout its 41-day journey towards Toronto, the Host City of the Games.
