Pan Am flame to visit Mississauga's Celebration Square and Mississauga Waterfront Festival
TORONTO, June 9, 2015 /CNW/ - Sunday, June 14, is Day 16 of the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am Games Torch Relay presented by President's Choice® and OLG, and the Pan Am flame will appear in communities separated by more than 3,000 kilometres when the flame visits Mississauga and Port Credit, Ontario, as well as Richmond, British Columbia.
The Pan Am flame will visit Mississauga's Celebration Square for a community celebration to kick off the relay day. Hazel McCallion, former Mississauga mayor, will then carry the Pan Am flame in a flotilla en route to Port Credit Memorial Park, where the relay will join the Mississauga Waterfront Festival. The relay day in Mississauga will conclude with a celebration at Port Credit Memorial Park, where community torchbearer Shivhoun De Melo, a local marathon runner, will light the community cauldron.

Start of day celebration:
- Community torchbearer Jack Ranieri will depart carrying the Pan Am flame
Port Credit Memorial Park – 12:40 p.m. (ET) (31 Front Street North, Mississauga)
Photo opportunity:
- Former mayor of Mississauga Hazel McCallion will carry the Pan Am flame along the Credit River in a flotilla
Port Credit Memorial Park: Mississauga Waterfront Festival – (31 Front Street North, Mississauga)
Day celebration:
- Torchbearer Shivhoun De Melo, a local marathon runner, will arrive carrying the Pan Am flame at 12:55 p.m. and will light the community cauldron
The Pan Am Games Torch Relay is a 41-day journey that will share the Pan Am spirit in more than 130 communities. The torch relay is one of the most exciting events as it sets the stage leading up to the Games. There will be more than 3,000 torchbearers and 180 community celebrations taking place.

The TORONTO 2015 Pan Am Games Torch Relay, presented by President's Choice® and OLG, is supported by community partner CIBC, signature supporters Star Media Group and Metroland Media, Ontario Trillium Foundation and Porter Airlines, and funding parties the Government of Canada and the Province of Ontario. The torch relay will invite Canadians to celebrate and share the Pan Am spirit throughout its 41-day journey towards Toronto, the Host City of the Games.
