Media Advisory - TORONTO 2015 Parapan Am Games Torch Relay to Celebrate in Toronto on August 7

United Parapan Am flame to travel the city ahead of the Opening Ceremony for the largest Parapan Am Games ever held

TORONTO, Aug. 4, 2015 /CNW/ - On Friday, August 7, Day 5 of the Parapan Am Games Torch Relay, presented by President's Choice® and OLG, the united Parapan Am flame will celebrate in Toronto on the final day of the relay.

The Parapan Am Games Torch Relay is a five-day inspirational journey that features a unique start and a first in torch relay history. Two separate flames — one in the east and one in the west — will be lit on August 3 during special ceremonies in Ottawa, Ontario, and Niagara Falls, Ontario. The flames will unite in Toronto on August 6 and will travel as one flame to the Parapan Am Opening Ceremony, which will take place on August 7 at the CIBC Pan Am/Parapan Am Athletics Stadium. 

Parapan Am Flame's Final Journey

Variety Village – 10 a.m. (ET) (3701 Danforth Avenue, Scarborough, ON)
Community celebration:

• Parapan Am flame to be carried by several torchbearers, including Variety Village's Archie Allison, director of access and awareness.

David Pecaut Square – 12 p.m. (ET) (55 John Street, Toronto, ON)
Photo opportunity:

• Parapan Am flame to be carried out of the celebration by community-nominated Luke Anderson, co-founder of StopGap Foundation.

Legislative Assembly of Ontario – 12:25 p.m. (ET) (111 Wellesley Street West, Toronto, ON)
Community celebration:

• Parapan Am flame to arrive at 12:25 p.m. carried by Gaétan Tardif, president, Canadian Paralympic Committee.
  

Native Canadian Centre of Toronto – (16 Spadina Road, Toronto, ON)
Community celebration:

• Stephanie Dixon, Paralympic and Parapan Am multi-medallist, swimming, and assistant chef de mission for the TORONTO 2015 Parapan Am Games, will arrive at 1 p.m. carrying the Parapan Am flame to light the community cauldron.

The Parapan Am flames will be carried by more than 250 torchbearers who will help share the Parapan Am spirit in 12 communities.
