Championship Match
TORONTO, Oct 5 /CNW/ -
Who: | Toronto Hydro-Electric System ("Toronto Hydro") and Toronto Police Services' Toronto Anti-Violence Intervention Strategy ("TAVIS") and Stefan Frei, Goalkeeper, Toronto FC. |
What: | Stefan Frei, star goalkeeper for Toronto FC, will join the youth of the Jane-Finch TAVIS Soccer League at the pitch to kick-off this year's championship match. Why: |
Frei's appearance at the match is a fun surprise for the hardworking youths who've participated in the league this year. The Jane-Finch TAVIS Soccer League was created by Toronto Police Services' TAVIS initiative as a result of a ProAction grant. The league provides youth and police officers an opportunity to interact in a recreational environment in order to develop relationships built on trust and understanding. The ultimate goal reinforces that police officers are partners in the community and are ultimately a resource for and friend of the community. The soccer league also provides area youth an opportunity to play soccer in a fun and safe environment at no cost. |
