Media Advisory - Toronto Maple Leafs and Sport Chek to surprise local youth hockey team
TORONTO, Feb. 19, 2014 /CNW/ -
WHAT: |
The Toronto Maple Leafs and Sport Chek will host a two-day celebration of hockey that will surprise a local minor league hockey team with the chance to live like a pro. Minor bantam AA team, Ted Reeve Thunder was randomly selected from the Sport Chek Team Assist program and will learn from past and present Leafs about what it takes to be a professional hockey player. |
Ted Reeve Thunder will begin at the Sherway Gardens Sport Chek on Thursday with two activities, How the Pros Get Ready and Shop with a Pro. Current Leafs goaltender Jonathan Bernier will surprise the young hockey team and lead a discussion on preparing for hockey success. Each player will also be given a Sport Chek gift card and have the opportunity to work with Bernier to determine what equipment is best suited for their needs. |
|
The team will then report to the outdoor rink at Greenwood Park the next morning where they will take to the ice with Leafs legend Wendel Clark for the Train like a Pro session. Afterwards they will have the opportunity to watch and learn from select members of the current Toronto Maple Leaf roster as they host an outdoor practice. Leafs alumni Curtis Joseph and Shayne Corson will also be on hand to sign autographs and meet with spectators. |
