Media Advisory - Toronto Media Event: Hackergal "Hackathon" Will Empower Girls, Enhance Their Opportunities, and Grow a Competitive Advantage for Canada's High-Tech Economy
TORONTO, May 1, 2018 /CNW/ - Hackergal, a non-profit organization that introduces middle-school girls to the unlimited possibilities of coding through girl-only "Hackathon" events and STEM education workshops, is inviting media to attend a special event to showcase their unique Hackathon model growing across Canada, with over 2,500 girls expected to participate in 102 schools, across Canada in 7 provinces and 1 territory.
With women vastly underrepresented in the tech sector all over the world, Hackergal strives to inspire a new wave of Canadian female coders to add their talents, ideas and entrepreneurialism to one of Ontario and Canada's most important sectors.
Supporting and empowering girls to engage in STEM will change the world.
Hackergal invites reporters to showcase these smart, creative and ambitious young women as they begin their journey to being tomorrow's STEM leaders, while also hearing from educators, students, corporate community (partners to Hackergal include Barrick Gold and CIBC) and invited government dignitaries about the value of women in STEM, and Hackergal's unique approach to supporting this critical mission.
The event will provide ample opportunity for attending media to capture inspiring photographs and video, quotable remarks, and interview opportunities with Hackergal leaders, Hackathon participants and educators, and assembled dignitaries.
