OTTAWA, April 21, 2017 /CNW/ - Every year, dozens of Canadians – especially young Canadians – are killed or injured when they put themselves in unsafe situations around railway tracks and trains. Operation Lifesaver (OL) invites the media to attend a press conference marking the first day of Rail Safety Week 2017, and the official launch of Look.Listen.Live. – a new virtual-reality rail-safety public-awareness campaign.

Speakers will include:

• The Honourable Marc Garneau, Minister of Transport
• Françoise Bertrand, Chair, Board of Directors, VIA Rail Canada
• Stephen Covey, Chief of Police and Chief Security Officer, CN, and Chair of Operation Lifesaver Canada's Board of Directors

Following the press conference, Minister Garneau will tour the Rail Safety Week displays by OL's partner-railways in Central Station, and will have the opportunity to experience OL's virtual-reality rail-safety videos.
