Media Advisory - Tribute event for Hon. Jim Flaherty in support of autism - Calgary
CALGARY, Dec. 3, 2014 /CNW/ - The Sinneave Family Foundation, the University of Calgary's Hotchkiss Brain Institute, The School of Public Policy and various VIPs are pleased to host an event to pay tribute to the memory of the Hon. James Flaherty, former Canadian Minister of Finance, and to raise funds for a legacy contribution to the Abilities Centre.
This tribute event features an expert panel that will address the topic of "Autism: New Discoveries and Directions". The panel will be followed by cocktails and dinner, where many former colleagues of Mr. Flaherty from the federal and Alberta governments will be in attendance. Christine Elliott, Mr. Flaherty's spouse, along with Hon. Rona Ambrose, will be participating and delivering remarks at dinner.
Mr. Flaherty has been praised for his many accomplishments as Canada's finance minister, but he also carved out a meaningful place in all 10 budgets for issues such as autism, mental health and accessibility in community facilities and businesses.
Net proceeds from this event will be donated in memory of Mr. Flaherty to the Abilities Centre to help build his dream of access and inclusion for all.
