Media Advisory - Union leader supports Temporary Foreign Workers program, Available for interviews
EDMONTON, Feb. 10, 2014 /CNW/ - Joseph Maloney, International Vice President of the Boilermakers union, is available for media interviews to defend the proper use of the Temporary Foreign Workers program.
"The program, when used as intended, helps to protect Canadian jobs by keeping strategic projects on track," he says. "Recent changes to the program will help prevent abuses such as the one which has occurred at Ft. McMurray."
The Boilermakers union uses the program to alleviate seasonal shortages of skilled Boilermakers in large-scale natural-resources projects that would otherwise be delayed or cancelled. But participants in the union program are paid the same as Canadian workers and get equivalent benefits.
Mr. Maloney can be reached via his direct line, at 780-499-3951.
