Media advisory - Unveiling of the new design of the John Lennon and Yoko Ono Suite at Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth hotel, the Bed-in and the exhibition Posters for Peace by Sid Lee Collective Français
MONTREAL, Sept. 15, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - To mark International Day of Peace on September 21, Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth hotel, Sid Lee Architecture, Sid Lee Collective, and MASSIVart invite media representatives to two events commemorating the unveiling of the iconic Suite 1742, site of John Lennon and Yoko Ono's famous 1969 Bed-in for Peace.
An immersive art experience in tribute to a legendary moment from the past
Visitors to Suite 1742 will relive the unique atmosphere of the Bed-in through immersive art installations created using archives, photographs, podcasts, videos, and never-before-seen historical items, including a Give Peace a Chance vinyl. A news conference will be held on site and guided tours of the suite will then be offered to the media.
Bed-in and Posters for Peace
At the same time, on the Place Ville Marie Esplanade, Sid Lee Collective will be inviting Montrealers to join one of the largest bed-ins ever held in North America and to explore the exhibition Posters for Peace, featuring works created in tribute to the original bed-in. Proceeds from the sale of reproductions of the posters will go to Amnesty International.
