Donation will transform care for one of Canada's most diverse communities
TORONTO, April 25, 2018 /CNW/ - On April 25, Michael Garron Hospital (MGH), Toronto East Health Network will mark a major milestone in Toronto's health care history by launching the historic $100-million Heart of the East Campaign with a landmark gift from one of Toronto's most prominent families and breaking ground on the revitalization of the Hospital's 89-year-old campus.
The new eight-storey Patient Care Centre and campus renewal will transform care for some of the most diverse and under-served populations in Toronto, with over 40 per cent of those living in the Hospital's community being new to Canada and a quarter being low-income. The project will see the replacement of 50 per cent of the hospital while continuing to deliver 100 per cent of healthcare services throughout construction. The $411-million design, build and finance contract was awarded to EllisDon Infrastructure Healthcare in January 2018.
