MEDIA ADVISORY - UPS celebrates official opening in Halifax

HALIFAX, Aug. 22, 2012 /CNW/ - Late last year, UPS announced a multi-million dollar investment expanding its network into eight cities across the region, adding approximately 250 jobs. Pick-up and delivery services in Halifax began in May. To celebrate this milestone a grand opening event will be held at the regional facility.
UPS Canada President Mike Tierney, who grew up in Prince Edward Island and Haligonian Shelley Gares, UPS Director of Operations for Atlantic Canada, will be available to discuss the expansion at the official grand opening customer and media event. Local talent SQUID will perform followed by speeches from Tierney and Jim Morton, Ministerial Assistant to the Department of Economic and Rural Development and Tourism.
August 28, also commemorates a special day for UPS as it celebrates 105 years of service. The world's largest package delivery company and a global leader in supply chain services continue to invest in Canada, providing end-to-end logistical solutions.
