Media Advisory - Veterans Ombudsman releases 'Serve with Honour, Depart with
Dignity' report on Veterans' funeral and burial benefits

Ottawa , Sept. 22 /CNW Telbec/ - The Veterans Ombudsman, Pat Stogran, will release his Office's first Report, 'Serve with Honour, Depart with Dignity' on Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009 , at 10:00 am EST at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre located at 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa .

On the 100th year anniversary of the Last Post Fund (which administers Veterans Affairs Canada's Funeral and Burial Assistance program), the OVO is releasing a report on the funeral and burial benefits for Veterans. The report presents recommendations for changes to the Veterans Affairs Canada Funeral and Burial Assistance program which is creating hardship for the most vulnerable segment of the Veteran community - the frail, elderly, and financially disadvantaged.

The report is the first in a series of reports aimed at ensuring that Canada does everything possible to ensure the fair treatment of and respect for Veterans and their families.
