Media Advisory - Virtual Everest : The Ultimate Test of Endurance in Halifax
HALIFAX, Oct. 26, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - The Arthritis Society invites you to Virtual Everest, where participants move mountains for the 1 in 4 Nova Scotians living with arthritis on Sunday, November 4th at Citadel Hill National Historic Site.
Virtual Everest is a unique event as participants race up and down Citadel Hill 80 times (!)to simulate the elevation from sea-level to the summit of Mount Everest. While racing to raise funds and awareness of the disease, teams and individuals themselves experience the pain and challenges of those living with arthritis in Nova Scotia, home of one of the highest prevalence of the disease in Canada.
We're moving mountains for those living with arthritis!
Now in its sixth year, Virtual Everest is the ultimate challenge in Halifax. Exciting prizes await teams and individuals who raise the most money and complete the race the fastest. Fun and thrills guaranteed as gyms in the community are racing to incorporate some friendly competition!
Special Participation - LEGacy Circus
LEGacy Circus is a contemporary circus duo featuring artists Erin Ball (Kingston, Ontario) and Vanessa Furlong (Halifax, Nova Scotia). They combine the use of leg attachments, mobility aids, traditional and non-traditional circus apparatuses in their multidisciplinary approach to story telling.
Vanessa and Erin of LEGacy Circus will be participating in the 6th annual Virtual Everest in honor of disability and for the promotion of accessibility and mobility aids. Watch for them and their unmistakable feet!
