Media Advisory - Visa to host fraud prevention seminar for seniors in Calgary

CALGARY, Feb. 29, 2012 /CNW/ - Seniors are all too often the primary target of fraudulent phone calls and email scams, and new survey results from Visa show that many are not having important discussions about fraud. To mark Fraud Prevention Month, Visa Canada will host a free fraud prevention seminar in Calgary to help jump start the conversation and educate seniors about how they can protect themselves from card scams and other fraud risks.

The seminar, to be held on March 6, will educate seniors about safe financial practices and equip participants with the tools and know-how to better protect themselves and their identities.  Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and speak with industry experts firsthand. A representative from Crime Stoppers Calgary will also be on site to provide additional comment and perspective.

• Learn about steps seniors can take to product themselves from fraudsters
• Speak with Visa spokespeople about the results of its recent Canadian-specific fraud and data security survey
• Learn about Visa's approach to fraud prevention and Visa's multiple layers of security, including Chip and PIN, Zero Liability and Verified by Visa
• A representative from Crime Stoppers Calgary will be on site for questions and comments
