MEDIA ADVISORY - What to Do When the Headline is You
Veteran and Award-Winning Canadian Journalist, Jeff Ansell, Delivers Insight for Business Communicators on Handling the Media
TORONTO, Oct. 19 /CNW/ - What if your business suddenly had to deal publicly with a complicated issue or crisis (of BP oilspill-like proportions)? What if you became the day's top newspaper headline for good (or bad) reasons? How would you handle the media attention and requests for interviews and how would you communicate to your stakeholders? An upcoming IABC/Toronto seminar led by veteran Canadian journalist and crisis communications expert, Jeff Ansell, will address these questions and related topics on handling the media, particularly the 'stay on message' approach. Ansell believes that each time a non-responsive message is repeated, a layer of credibility is stripped away from the speaker. Drawing on his experience as a journalist and media trainer, Ansell will provide Toronto's leading public relations and communications professionals with an effective alternative to this broken media training model.
