MEDIA ADVISORY - Winter Weather Expected at YVR
RICHMOND, BC, Feb. 23, 2018 /CNW/ - A significant winter weather event is expected at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and throughout the lower mainland today and over the weekend.
During the winter months, we monitor weather closely and have a comprehensive snow operations and winter weather strategy. YVR is committed to maintaining a safe and secure airfield for aircraft and passengers.
Please help us spread the word. Passengers should check with their airlines for current flight timing and status before departing home, and should allow ample travel time to the airport. Updates will also be provided on the YVR website on an ongoing basis.
NOTE TO EDITORS AND PRODUCERS: click here for a comprehensive package of media materials, including facts and stats, images and broll regarding YVR snow operations, as well as audio and video interview clips with both our VP and Director of Operations.
We request that if you are planning to send cameras or reporters to YVR, please provide us with advance notice and email us at [email protected].
General Travel tips:
- Allow ample time to check in, clear security and board your flight. Factor in time for traffic congestion, parking and walking to the terminal – all of which may take longer in a significant weather event.
- Winter weather here in Metro Vancouver or in other parts of the country could impact flights, so be sure to check the status of your flight with your airline or at yvr.ca before you leave home.
- Travel to YVR on the Canada Line is quick and efficient, delivering you to the terminal door in 26 minutes or less.
- When packing, remember that restrictions continue to apply for liquids, gels and aerosols in carry-on baggage. These details and a complete list of items not permitted in carry-on baggage, including skis and snowboards, is available through Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) at catsa.gc.ca.
