Media Advisory - Women across the GTA mobilize to launch $1 million Habitat Women Build campaign
TORONTO, May 14, 2014 /CNW/ - Close to 250 women will join together to launch Habitat for Humanity Greater Toronto Area's (Habitat GTA) 2014 Women Build campaign at The Spoke Club on Wednesday, May 14, 2014. Women Build Ambassador Jennifer Valentyne, will host this event to kick start the $1 million campaign slated for September 15 through 27, 2014 on two build site locations in Brampton and Toronto.
"Occurring just days after Mother's Day, the Women Build launch reflects the unique connection women feel to the power of home." says Ene Underwood, CEO, Habitat for Humanity GTA. "I am very excited for another year of engaging the women of our community to pick up hammers and work together to bring the issue of affordable homeownership to light, pushing us closer to our vision of a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live."
Since 2009, Habitat GTA's Women Build Program has raised over $3 million and united over 3,700 female volunteers to help build 57 Habitat homes in the GTA.
