Media Advisory - WORKSHOP ON COUNTERFEIT PRODUCTS MEDIA BRIEFING
LONDON, ON, Nov. 8 /CNW/ - The Royal Canadian Mounted Police London Detachment in partnership with the Canadian Standards Association, Underwriters Laboratories and Microsoft will be hosting a workshop for police officers on Wednesday, November 10th, 2010 at the RCMP "O" Division Headquarters in London, Ontario. The purpose of this workshop is to educate officers on unsafe counterfeit products that are being sold in communities.
During holiday shopping seasons, consumers may be enticed into purchasing items at costs far below their normal value; "incredible DEALS". These items can range from children's toys, electrical items, Christmas decorations as well as various other commodities. Many of these items are often discovered as being either without proper safety certification or with counterfeited safety certification labels.

As part of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police's vision of "Safe Home and Safe Communities", officers will be conducting random checks of businesses throughout London and the surrounding area for these illegal products during the holiday shopping season.
