TORONTO, April 25, 2016 /CNW/ - The Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) will commemorate the National Day of Mourning at a public ceremony on Thursday, April 28th, 2016.
The ceremony is being held to remember and honour those workers who have died, been injured or suffered illness in the workplace. The Day of Mourning also reminds all of us of the continued need to demonstrate our commitment to the promotion of healthy and safe workplaces, where every worker comes home safely at the end of the day.
WHEN: Thursday, April 28th, 2016 – 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
WHERE: Simcoe Park, located on the west side of the WSIB office at 200 Front St. W., Toronto
WHO: Threads of Life families, labour and employers are expected to attend the ceremony
Speakers will include:
- Honourable Kevin Flynn, Minister of Labour
- Elizabeth Witmer, WSIB Chair
- Thomas Teahen, WSIB President & CEO
- Johanna LeRoux, mother of young worker killed in 2006
St. Michael's Choir School will be performing at the ceremony
