MONTREAL, Oct. 18 /CNW/ - The media are invited to attend a one-day only, highly visual, interactive display of ground breaking Canadian technology in Montreal.

Seventeen projects led by some of the country's most talented researchers and scientists will be on display, including:

• aspiring musicians who train immersed with an online virtual orchestra (McGill Univ.),
• the world's first carbon free computer network (École de technologie supérieure, ÉTS) ,
• fascinating view of sea life offered by a network of underwater sensors (Univ. of Victoria),
• medical students in remote locations taught the latest surgical techniques by surgeons online (McGill),
• a computing solution to share earth data and analysis of climate change and biodiversity (Universities of Calgary, Alberta, Victoria with Cybera Inc.),
• harnessing a super-Internet to solve diseases of the human brain (McGill) and
• an Internet archive of historical and real-time environmental data from remote locations enabling study of changes to climate, species and water systems (Cybera Inc.)
