Tree-planting ceremony at Northwood Public School confirms local commitment and launches national tree-planting challenge
WINDSOR, ON, April 15 /CNW/ - Friday, April 16, marks the official start of Jamieson Trees, a national tree-planting challenge. To celebrate this initiative, representatives from Jamieson Laboratories and Essex Region Conservation Authority (ERCA) will join students from the Greater Essex County District School Board at Northwood Public School to plant a ceremonial mature tree. Following the tree-planting ceremony, students will be given white-spruce seedlings and encouraged to plant their tree at home as a reminder of their support and pledge to help make Canada greener.
In partnership with ERCA, Jamieson is proudly declaring a 10-year commitment to plant 72,000 trees in the Windsor area. Media are invited to join the Essex County school community and special guests for this announcement and tree-planting event.
Jamieson is also launching a national tree project, Jamieson Trees, with a goal of planting 25,000 trees in time for Canada's Environment Week in June. Anyone who plants a tree between April 16 and June 2 (World Environment Day) is encouraged to post their tree-planting story on www.jamiesoncares.com. When the goal is reached, Jamieson will match the effort of all Canadians by planting an equal number of trees at 10 conservation areas across the country.
