OTTAWA , Feb. 1 /CNW Telbec/ - In advance of February 6th , the International Day of Zero Tolerance to Female Genital Mutilation, the Canadian Nurses Association, the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada and Action Canada for Population and Development are hosting a forum to discuss the continuing widespread practice of female genital mutilation (FGM).

Speakers will include a Canadian of Somali origin, who will share her personal experience of FGM. Participants will view the 2003 documentary Dabla! Excision and discuss the film with the filmmaker, Erica Pomerance . Information will be shared on the efforts and progress made toward eliminating the practice, and opportunities for further collaboration will be identified.
