MEDIA ADVISORY - 75th Anniversary of Human Rights Day Will Bring Canadian Leaders Together to Advocate for the Restoration of Basic Universal Human Rights to Gaza
TORONTO, Dec. 8, 2023 /CNW/ - On the 75th Anniversary of Human Rights Day, Canadian public sector leaders will come together to advocate for the return of basic universal human rights for the people of Gaza. This event comes on the heels of the United Nations (UN) Secretary General invoking an Article 99, urging the UN Security Council to adopt a resolution for a ceasefire.
This event is part of the UN's Human Rights 75 Initiative. This initiative asks people globally to "…rejuvenate the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, demonstrate how it can meet the needs of our time and advance its promise of freedom, equality and justice for all." The progress that world institutions have made to ensure the protection of basic universal human rights has receded entirely for the people of Gaza. The fundamental right to remain alive is no longer a reality, with approximately two million civilians not knowing if they will survive from one minute to the next.
To show your solidarity with restoring basic universal human rights in Gaza, visit the UN Human Rights 75 website. Wear a Palestinian symbol, then follow the steps to share your photo on social media using hashtags #humanrights75 and #standup4humanrights. You can also post your photo here.
