Broad Opposition Emerges as Government Proceeds with Justice System Overhaul

Following the introduction of Bill 39 in the Alberta Legislature, the Alberta Law Foundation will be joined by Indigenous justice leaders, legal service providers and members of the Official Opposition to publicly raise concerns about the bill's far-reaching implications for the province's legal system.

This joint press conference will highlight the broad and growing opposition to Bill 39, which expands political control over legal funding, destabilizes community-based legal services, and weakens the independence of the province's justice infrastructure.
