OTTAWA, Feb. 21, 2020 /CNW/ - More than 160 delegates from the Association des enseignantes et des enseignants franco-ontariens (AEFO) will be attending the Association's annual meeting held February 21 to 23, 2020 at the Delta Toronto Airport Hotel & Conference Centre, 655 Dixon Rd in Mississauga. AEFO's current President, Rémi Sabourin, is wrapping up his term August 31, 2020. Delegates will be electing a new president, as well as the union's new executive committee. Guests at the meeting will include Liberal MPP for Don Valley West and former Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne, who will speak. NDP MPP and Education Critic for Education Marit Stiles (Davenport) will also take the podium.
AEFO will also present the Franco-Ontarian Award of Merit to two teachers:
- André Lemieux, from école secondaire catholique de Casselman, who, through his involvement with Franco-Ontarian youth, has made an exceptional contribution to the outreach of the French language and of Francophone culture.
- Marc St-Georges, from école secondaire catholique Franco-Cité, in Sturgeon Falls, for his extraordinary union involvement with AEFO members in his workplace.

Elections – first ballot |
The AEFO has about 12,,000 members and represents French-language elementary and high school teachers in Ontario, from both Catholic and public school boards, and professional and support staff working in various French-language workplaces.
