As part of the National Housing Strategy the Government of Canada committed to a 50 percent reduction in chronic homelessness through a community based homelessness strategy. In May the government released the Report of the Advisory Committee on Homelessness with recommendations for the redesign of the Homelessness Partnering Strategy (HPS). On Monday, Minister Duclos will announce new Government of Canada measures to reduce homelessness. The current HPS program provides direct support and funding to 61 designated communities and to organizations that address Indigenous homelessness across Canada. |
