SAANICH, BC, Nov. 14, 2019 /CNW/ - CUPE National President Mark Hancock will be available to speak to media Friday, November 15 at 10:45 a.m. at Brentwood Elementary School. Hancock will be joining striking CUPE 441 members on the picket line.
CUPE Local 441 has been on strike since October 28, with strong community support from the public, including parents and teachers.

At issue is wage parity and the District's ability to attract and retain support workers. CUPE 441 members are paid below those doing the same work in neighbouring communities of Sooke and Victoria. CUPE 441 is concerned with this longstanding issue that negatively impacts both members and students.
