FORT MCMURRAY, AB, July 16, 2019 /CNW/ - Locked out employees of Wood Buffalo Housing will get a boost on the picket line on Wednesday from a visit by Charles Fleury, the National Secretary-Treasurer of the Canadian Union of Public Employees.
Details
When: Wednesday, July 17 – 9AM
Where: Municipal Building, 9909 Franklin Avenue, Fort McMurray AB
"Our members at Wood Buffalo Housing have shamefully been locked out by their employer for over two months," said Fleury. "But as Canada's largest union, CUPE is there to stand up for our members wherever they need help."
Wood Buffalo Housing has locked out 46 of its employees since May 10 because the municipal subsidiary wants to replace dedicated, long-term workers who care about residents with fly-by-night contractors.
CUPE is Canada's largest labour union, with 680,000 members nationwide.
