BLAINVILLE, QC, May 8, 2024 /CNW/ - Media representatives are advised of a tour of the weather radar site located in Blainville, Quebec, one of 32 new state-of-the-art radar stations across Canada. Following the tour, the Honourable Steven Guilbeault, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, will hold a media availability.
Departmental spokespersons will be available to answer questions and provide interviews as well. Media will have the opportunity to collect B-roll footage during the site tour.
Event: Site Tour and Media Availability
Date: Friday, May 10, 2024
Time: 11:30 a.m. (EDT)
Location: Blainville, Quebec
Media representatives are required to register for this event in advance by contacting Media Relations at Environment and Climate Change Canada and confirming the number of participants that will be attending. A waiver will need to be filled out to attend this event.
The location of the media availability will be confirmed only to accredited media representatives who have registered with Media Relations for Environment and Climate Change Canada. As the radar is located in a controlled area, Environment and Climate Change Canada will be providing transportation to the weather-radar site. Media requiring a vehicle to transport large equipment will have to be granted access beforehand and escorted on-site.
IMPORTANT
Although most of the tour will be visible at ground level, media wishing to access the radar must wear appropriate footwear to climb 10 flights of open-air metal stairs, as well as the ladder into the radome. The tour may be delayed should there be inclement weather on the day of the event.
