MEDIA ADVISORY: Facebook and Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade to host free workshop for Durham Region Businesses
PICKERING, ON, April 28, 2015 /CNW/ - On Friday, May 1, Facebook's Small Business Boost will take place in Pickering, Ontario, a session dedicated to teaching small business owners in the Durham Region how to optimize their presence on the world's largest social network.
The event will be co-hosted by the Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade and Chris Alexander, Member of Parliament for Ajax-Pickering. Attendees will participate in a training session on how to use Facebook to grow their business and connect with current and potential customers. As well, attendees will hear first-hand from local businesses who have been specially selected by Facebook because their businesses have found success through the use of Facebook. Terre Bleu Lavender Farm, Far & Wide Collective and Zayver have been selected as inspiring examples of local enterprises that have used Facebook to develop and grow.
The Ajax-Pickering Small Business Boost is the fourth stop of a cross-country roadshow that kicked off on January 20th in Coquitlam and moved East to Halifax on January 22nd and then in Montreal on February 9th. Small businesses are a large contributor to the economy in Durham Region, with 90 per cent of all firms in Durham Region having nine or fewer employees.
