Media Advisory - Government of Canada to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the end of the Korean War Français
OTTAWA, ON, June 23, 2023 /CNW/ - The Government of Canada will commemorate the 70th anniversary of the end of the Korean War with events in Ottawa that will feature a delegation of Korean War Veterans.
On Saturday, 24 June 2023, the Honourable David McGuinty, Member of Parliament for Ottawa South, will participate in a commemorative ceremony at The Field of Honour in Beechwood National Cemetery. The ceremony will include a wreath laying and a performance by the Zion Mission Children's Choir.

On Sunday, 25 June 2023, the Honourable Mona Fortier, President of Treasury Board, on behalf of The Honourable Lawrence MacAulay, Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence, will participate in a commemorative event at the National War Memorial alongside the Korean War Veterans delegation, The Honourable Yonah Martin, Senator from British Columbia, His Excellence Lim Woongsoon, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Canada, Veteran organizations, members of the diplomatic corps, and the general public. This is the signature event of the in-Canada Korean War Veterans delegation weekend. Minister Fortier will lay a wreath and deliver remarks at the ceremony.
Interviews with members of the Korean War Veterans delegation may be organized following the ceremony.
