Media advisory - Governor General to attend National Commemorative Ceremony for the Honourable Murray Sinclair Français
OTTAWA, ON, Nov. 8, 2024 /CNW/ - Their Excellencies the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada, and Mr. Whit Fraser will attend the National Commemorative Ceremony to mark the passing of the Honourable Murray Sinclair, C.C., O.M., M.S.C., K.C.
The foremost figure in Canada's reconciliation journey, Mr. Sinclair was Anishinaabe and a member of the Peguis First Nation. He was appointed Companion of the Order of Canada on September 24, 2021.
The Governor General will join Indigenous leaders, dignitaries and the public for the memorial service. Her Excellency will deliver remarks at the service to recognize Mr. Sinclair's immense contributions to Canada.
